Philadelphia Zoo
Bethany Housman's work experience includes roles at various organizations. Bethany began their career at Catholic Charities CYO as a Site Supervisor in 2006. Bethany then worked at St. John's University as the National and Global Service Coordinator for Academic Service Learning and the Office of Study Abroad in 2007. Bethany joined City Year Greater Philadelphia in 2007 and held positions as Director of Programs and Service from 2007 to 2012 and Senior Program Director from 2012 to 2014. Bethany also participated in the Comcast Foundations of Organizational Leadership program in 2014. Bethany later worked at Scholar Academies as an Operations Design Coordinator from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they became the Director of Promise Corps at the Mayor's Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, a role they held until 2020. Bethany then joined the City of Philadelphia as the Director of Youth Strategies from 2019 to 2022. Currently, Bethany is the Director of School and Community Partnerships at the Philadelphia Zoo, starting in April 2022.
Bethany Housman's education history begins in 2002 when they enrolled at St. John's University. Bethany pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts and completed their studies in 2005. Following this, from 2005 to 2007, they attended St. John's University again, this time earning a Master of Arts degree in Sociology.
In 2013, Bethany Housman enrolled in Temple University, where they focused on Urban Education. After two years of study, they successfully obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in 2015.
Additionally, in February 2019, Bethany Housman obtained a certification as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer from CrossFit, Inc.
