Matt J Smith

Matt J Smith has a long and varied work experience in software development, beginning in 1995 at the University of Maryland, where they provided technical support to end users on software and hardware issues. In 1998, they moved to Genesis Healthcare, where they installed, planned, and administered server technologies including Windows Server and Exchange, and identified processes available for automation, designing and implementing the solutions. In 1999, they joined MBNA as a Systems Architect and Developer. In 2006, they worked at Bank of America as a Systems Architect and Senior Developer, architecting and developing an internal web application that saved over 200,000 help desk calls a year. In 2008, they founded and became Senior Developer at ClipperSoft, serving thousands of public facing websites and customers with a multi-tier custom ad serving solution in PHP and mySQL. In 2016, they joined Chatham Financial as a Senior Full Stack Developer. Most recently, in 2021, they joined PHILANTHROPI as a Senior Software Developer Tech Lead, leading a team of five backend .NET developers with guided software projects in an agile environment, and working with a Fortune 50 company to lead backend integration with OAuth/OIDC identity management and AWS SQS queue-based payment processing.

Matt J Smith has a diverse educational background. Matt J obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania between 1989 and 1994. Matt J then went on to earn a Master's degree in Operations Research from the University of Delaware between 1995 and 1996.
