Gil Mendez

Gil Mendez has over 12 years of experience in the field of analytics and innovation. Currently, they serve as the Chief Technology Officer at Phoenix National Laboratories since June 2020. Prior to that, Gil worked at Banner Health as the Director of Analytics and Innovation, where they managed a team of data scientists and data visualization engineers to provide analytic support. Gil also held the position of Data Scientist Supervisor at Banner Health, where they led population health analytic efforts and managed other data analysts and scientists.

Before joining Banner Health, Gil worked at Bank of America as a Quantitative Operations Manager, where they forecasted home mortgage metrics and performed statistical analysis to improve internal processes. Earlier in their career, Gil worked at American Express as an Econometrician. In this role, they created test designs for marketing initiatives, targeted high potential customer segments using predictive modeling techniques, and managed analytics forums.

Gil's expertise lies in using advanced analytics methodologies to identify new business opportunities and provide data-driven solutions. Gil is experienced in managing teams, mentoring peers, and developing and managing reports using tools like SAS and Excel.

Gil Mendez obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, attending from 1999 to 2002. Following this, Mendez pursued further education at Arizona State University, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Statistics from 2003 to 2005. Finally, Mendez completed their academic journey at Arizona State University by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mathematics from 2005 to 2008.
