Max Cayard

Director of Team Security at Phoenix Suns

Max Cayard is the Director of Team Security for the Phoenix Suns. Max has over ten years of experience in player and personal security, and has been with the Suns since 2016.

Prior to joining the Suns, Cayard worked for the Madison Square Garden Company as the Manager of Player Security for the New York Knicks. In this role, they were responsible for providing security for the entire team and coaching staff, both at the practice facility and when traveling to away games. Max also assisted in gathering information on each player's background, passport, and any other permits required by the NBA.

Before working with the Knicks, Cayard was a police officer with the New Carrollton Police Department in Maryland. Max then transitioned into personal protection, first with Amar'e Stoudemire Enterprises and then with Tyson Franchise Inc.

Cayard is a skilled and experienced security professional who has a passion for their work. Max is dedicated to protecting their clients and ensuring their safety at all times.

Max Cayard has a certification in criminal justice from Prince George's Community College and a certification in firearms from the police academy. Max has worked as a police officer for 10 years.

Max Cayard reports to James Jones, General Manager, Basketball Operations. They work with Monty Williams - Head Coach, Brady Howe - Vice President, Player Health & Performance, and Ryan Resch - Vice President, Basketball Strategy & Evaluation.
