Tom O'Brien

Tom O'Brien has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Tom is currently serving as the Deputy Vice President of Federal Advocacy at PhRMA since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked in the US Congress starting in January 2011, where they held the position of Professional Staff, Clerk & Staff Director until January 2022. Tom also served as the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Food Safety and Inspection Service from May 2006 to January 2011. Before that, they worked at the FDA, where they served as a Financial Advisor/Special Assistant to the Director, Office of Financial Management from November 2001 to May 2006, and as a Budget/Program Analyst from April 1997 to November 2001. Additionally, they worked as a Professional Staff - Detailee at the U.S. House of Representatives from February 2004 to January 2006.

Tom O'Brien has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from West Virginia University, which they obtained between 1986 and 1991. Tom also holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Finance, General from Marymount University, earned from 1993 to 1996. Additionally, Tom completed the Senior Managers in Government Program at Harvard University in 2010.
