Zihang Fang has a diverse work experience in the fields of machine learning, research, and data analysis. In 2015-2016, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Northeastern University, where they gained experience in MRI-related research and performed tasks such as manual image labeling and segmentation. Zihang also worked in an optical research lab, where they taught himself PCB basics and designed a prototype optical device using SolidWorks. In 2017, Zihang served as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate course on bioelectricity. From 2017 to 2018, they contributed to an MRI image analysis pipeline as a Data Research Analyst at Boston Children's Hospital, streamlining data retrieval and automating image reconstruction and registration processes. In 2021, Zihang interned at Genentech, researching and developing frameworks for predicting cell depletion severity levels in pathology images and collaborating with pathologists to align results with pathology findings. Zihang then joined The Johns Hopkins University as a Research Assistant, working on deep learning applications in digital pathology, including the creation of a Python module for data loading protocols and developing a lightweight feature extractor. Currently, Zihang is employed as a Machine Learning Scientist at Pictor Labs Inc starting from July 2022, where they continue to contribute their expertise in machine learning.
Zihang Fang completed their Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Northeastern University between 2015 and 2019. Zihang then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University from 2019 to 2021.
