Marquis Tavon Upshur, PHR, SHRM-CP has a diverse range of work experience in human resources spanning over several organizations. Marquis Tavon began their career as a Senior Recruitment Specialist at Brown Insurance Services, where they transitioned the recruitment process to an automated system and managed a team of staffing professionals. From there, they moved on to the American Red Cross Eastern Pennsylvania Region as a Human Resources Generalist, overseeing recruitment, performance management, and employee relations. At Horizon House, Inc., they served as a Human Resource Manager, implementing strategic people strategies and resolving various employment issues. As the Director of Human Resources at the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, they led integration activities for multiple office locations, reduced voluntary turnover, and improved training and feedback methods. Subsequently, they became the Vice President of Human Resources at Philabundance, where they provided essential HR services, built a knowledgeable HR team, and implemented training and new pay structures. Currently, they are the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at PIDC, where they oversee various HR functions, including talent acquisition, compensation, and benefits administration. Marquis Tavon Upshur brings extensive experience and expertise to their roles and has consistently demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking throughout their career.

Marquis Tavon Upshur, PHR, SHRM-CP has an extensive education history. Marquis Tavon began their educational journey at Albright College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Visual and Apparel Merchandising, graduating in 2001.

Marquis Tavon then pursued a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University, completing their studies in 2006. Following this, Marquis attended the University of Phoenix from 2009 to 2011, earning an MBA with a specialization in Human Resources Management.

In 2015, Marquis furthered their education by completing a Fellowship Program: Early Childhood Education Initiatives in West Philadelphia Promise Zone at Drexel University's LeBow Institute for Strategic Leadership, receiving a Certificate of Completion.

In addition to their academic achievements, Marquis Upshur has obtained several certifications. In 2009, they became a Professional in Human Resources® (PHR®) through HRCI. Later, in 2015, they obtained the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM.
