Matthew Pachell

Vice President, Development & Exploration at Pieridae Energy Canada

Matthew Pachell has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Matthew is currently employed at Pieridae Energy Limited, where they serve as the Vice President of Development & Exploration since November 2022. Prior to this role, they held positions as Exploration Manager and Senior Geoscientist at the company. Before joining Pieridae Energy Limited, Matthew worked at Ikkuma Resources Corp. Canada as a Senior Geoscientist from 2014 to 2018. Matthew also served as an Exploration Manager and Exploration Team Lead at Condor Petroleum from 2009 to 2014. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Senior Exploration Geologist at Calvalley Petroleum Inc. from 2008 to 2009, and as a Structural Geologist at Talisman Energy from 2006 to 2008. Matthew started their career at Anadarko Canada Corporation as a Geologist from 2005 to 2006 and later moved to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation as a Geologist from 2000 to 2005. Overall, Matthew has held various positions of increasing responsibility and expertise in the field of geology and exploration.

Matthew Pachell has an extensive education history in the field of Geology/Earth Science. Matthew obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree from Utah State University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in the same field at Denison University, attending from 1993 to 1997.

During their undergraduate studies in 1996, Matthew participated in a program called "School for International Training," although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Before their collegiate years, Matthew earned their High School Diploma from University School in 1993.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Matthew became a Qualified Reserve Evaluator through the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in June 2011. Prior to that, in August 2010, they obtained the Certified Petroleum Geologist (CPG) certification from the same institution. Matthew also holds the title of Professional Geoscientist, awarded by The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in December 2009.
