Essential Functions…Functional Area:
Patient Care/Operational Excellence

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations
· Provides comprehensive and emergency dental services, including diagnosis/treatment plans, general restorative procedures, minor oral surgery, uncomplicated endodontics, and fixed and removable prosthodontic procedures as set forth by VV clinical guidelines and OSDB laws and rules.
· Review of patient vitals, health, medical, social history prior to care/treatment.
· Prescribe and interpret radiographs and lab studies.
· Make referrals to in-house services and/or to specialty care as appropriate.
· Provide dental and oral health education to patient and families.
· Ensure all patients enjoy a positive experience, and are treated with the care and compassion expected.
· Manage difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
· Exercise professional judgement in the performance of dental care/treatment provided consistent with VV policies/procedures and standards in dental care, QI activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
· Maintain standards set forth by the Dental Director/Director of Dental Operations regarding, but not limited to supplies, instruments, equipment, and scheduling to meet sufficient continuous quality assurance/improvement.
· Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements.
· Prepare/confirm laboratory cases.

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations
· Participates in the daily morning huddle.
· Provide leadership and direction to clinical supervision of dental hygienists, EFDAs, and dental assistants.
· Develop and maintain positive relationships and collaborations with other dentists and dental staff members. Ensure success of each clinic’s operations through collaborative support and working relationships.
· Effect overall clinical results. Meet or exceed all measurable standards of care, including overall clinical, quality, and productivity goals.
· Actively participate in community dental programs.
· Able to manage multiple responsibilities and emergency situations as necessary.
· Ensure duties are completed in a timely and professional manner.
· Maintains patient confidentiality.
Functional Area: Service and Other Responsibilities

· Other responsibilities may include, but is not limited to, serving as part of various committees (ad hoc or standing), work groups, and service teams within Valley View Health Centers and CAC.
· Demonstrate commitment to the mission of the organization in promoting oral health.
Minimum Requirements…
Education:
DDS or DMD graduate of a CODA accredited dental program.
Job-Related Experience:
Preference given to direct patient care experience in a community health center and/or FQHC dental program(s).
Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations:
Current/active or be eligible to hold a dental license issued by the Ohio State Dental Board
Current healthcare provider CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association.
Direct Patient Care Requirements…
Verification of licensure, registration, or certification.
Verification of education and training.
Completion of a query of the Office of Inspector General (OIG)
Verification of Health/Fit for Duty, including physical and mental health status and any impairment that may interfere with the safe and effective provision of care permitted under the requested clinical privileges of the position.
Three professional letters of recommendation.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Proof of Hepatitis B immunity, including a copy of immunization record showing HBV series or documentation stating immunity.
Preferred Qualifications…
Two years of clinical experience or GPR or AEGD.
Experience working with underserved populations and community-based programs.
Working Conditions…
Position is in a well-lighted, clinic working environment. Position may require occasional travel between VVHC dental clinics (up to 25%). Requires good verbal and written communications. Must be able to speak and read the English language. This position requires the employee to regularly sit, ability to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Work is fast-paced, occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vison abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
