Shekinah Deocares

Shekinah Deocares is a dedicated civic engagement professional currently serving as the Lead Civic Engagement Organizer at the Pilipino Workers Center of Southern California, where efforts focus on supporting human trafficking survivors through advocacy and direct services. With experience in various roles, Shekinah has actively promoted labor rights within Los Angeles' Pilipinx communities and created tools for the 2020 Census to enhance civic participation. Previous roles include a Legislative Intern with the U.S. House of Representatives and Special Projects Fellow for the City of Los Angeles, where policy research highlighted the needs of AAPI communities. Shekinah's background also includes mentorship in STEM education and outreach initiatives aimed at empowering underrepresented students and fostering civic engagement across diverse communities. Shekinah holds a degree in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
