Jack E. Henningfield has an extensive background in behavioral biology, pharmacology, addiction research, and abuse liability assessment. Jack E. started their career in 1978 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Jack E. has also held several positions at NIDA, including Chief of Clinical Pharmacology Research Branch and Chief of Biology of Dependence and Abuse Potential Assessment Section. Additionally, they worked as Vice President of Research, Health Policy, and Abuse Liability at Pinney Associates, where they advised clients on drug scheduling and abuse potential. Jack E. is an adjunct professor, affiliated faculty, and board member of several institutions, including the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Jack E. has also served as a member and advisor for various committees, including the World Health Organization and the FDA.
Jack E. Henningfield holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, which they earned in 1974 with summa cum laude honors. Jack E. then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Experimental Psychology with a Pharmacology Supporting Program, which they completed in 1977, also at the University of Minnesota. During their doctoral studies, they were a recipient of the US Public Health Service Fellowship. From 1977 to 1978, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Council on Alcoholism in Psychiatry Research Unit, also at the University of Minnesota.
