Matthijs Pontier

Matthijs Pontier is an experienced professional currently serving as Fractievoorzitter for De Groenen in Waterschap Amstel Gooi en Vecht and co-founder/commercial director of Idea Synergy, a social media platform focused on co-creation and citizen participation. Matthijs also holds a position in the Amsterdam department of Citizens Foundation Iceland, advocating for community engagement and governance. With a background in public speaking, campaigning, and consulting, Matthijs has been involved with various organizations including Meer Democratie as a board member and Netherlands Drug Policy Foundation as board treasurer. Matthijs’ previous political activities span roles within the Piratenpartij Nederland and leadership in multiple electoral campaigns. Academically, Matthijs holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
