As the Director of Planned Giving, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead the strategy for securing future philanthropic support for Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW).

This exciting opportunity reports to the Director of Major Gifts and will work closely with the Development team and key stakeholders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors.

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with patients, donors and internal and external stakeholders of all backgrounds and have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all donor information. In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive planned giving program, including strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned giving prospects.

  • Collaborate with the Development team to integrate planned giving opportunities into overall fundraising efforts and campaigns.

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, providing personalized stewardship and cultivating long-term engagement.

  • Oversee a portfolio of planned giving prospects and develop systematized cultivation and stewardship strategies.

  • Serve as a member of the major gifts team and manage a portfolio of individual planned giving prospects with tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for each donor.

  • Conduct outreach and education efforts to promote awareness of planned giving opportunities among donors, board members, and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and communications to support the planned giving program, utilizing placement in existing communications, and developing new materials as needed.

  • Partner and serve as agency liaison with Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s planned giving team.

  • Monitor and track planned giving activity, maintaining accurate records of interactions and progress toward fundraising goals.

  • Serve as principal authority on planned giving, and provide ongoing training to the Development team about planned giving practices to help build the team’s capacity to effectively solicit blended and planned gifts.

  • Administer, in partnership with General Counsel and Finance, planned gifts received by PPPSW.

  • Provide regular updates and reports on planned giving activity to senior leadership, Philanthropy Committee and the Board of Directors.

  • Stay current on trends and best practices in planned giving and philanthropy, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the program.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience in philanthropy/development/fundraising required

  • 3+ years of Planned Giving experience required

  • 5+ years of Major Gifts fundraising, with proven track record of success in securing planned gifts required

  • Strong understanding of planned giving vehicles and techniques, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and gift annuities required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage donors effectively required

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously required

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in donor management databases and Microsoft Office suite; experience with planned giving software a plus
  • Raiser's Edge and/or Salesforce Experience
