Ramón Torre Cañal has extensive work experience in the field of sexual and reproductive rights advocacy. Ramón started their career in 1998 as the Coordinator of Education and Awareness at Movimiento por la Paz -MPDL-. Ramón then moved on to becoming a Technical Project Manager at the same organization in 2001. In 2002, Ramón joined Marie Stopes International as a Senior Advocacy and Development Manager, a position they held until 2008. Following this, they briefly worked as the Coordinator of Advocacy for Latinoamerica at the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region. From 2010 to 2012, Ramón served as the Advocacy and Latin America Manager at Red ACTIVAS. In 2012, they became a Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Rights, providing expert consultation services and generating activism communities through social media. Ramón also worked at several organizations during this time, including Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where they held the roles of Advocacy Senior Program Officer and Associate Director. Furthermore, in 2017, Ramón held the position of Director of Iniciativa IDEA, a social innovation laboratory for health and reproductive rights, where they supported disruptive ideas and projects to promote social impact. Throughout their career, Ramón has been involved in developing strategies, creating partnerships, and promoting innovative methodologies to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.
From 1998 to 2001, Ramón Torre Cañal attended Universidad de Oviedo, where they pursued a Diplomatura in Educación Social.
