Simão Belchior

Simão Belchior has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Simão is currently employed as the CTO at PlatformE, where they lead the Tech team and collaborates with stakeholders to achieve the company's mission of reducing overproduction and waste in the fashion industry.

Prior to this, Simão worked as the Director of Engineering at Teya (formerly SaltPay), where they oversaw the integration of Switch's product into the company's ecosystem and led the Payment Gateway team.

Simão also served as a Senior Technical Consultant at Pleez, where they supported the Engineering team and assisted in reviewing software development processes.

Simão has had experience in the payment industry as the Head of Engineering at Switch, a company that handles complex operations for businesses in the online economy.

Outside of the tech industry, Simão was a partner at Meyash_Socks, a position they held for three years.

Additionally, Simão co-founded and worked as a developer for Posso Ir?, a mobile app designed to provide information on store occupancy to help users avoid crowded places during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier in their career, Simão worked at Vizzuality as a Senior Project Manager and Porto Office Manager, leading projects for clients like the World Resources Institute and the World Bank. Simão also worked as a Product Developer at the same company.

Simão started their career as a Software Engineer at GT Portugal, where they developed the company's intranet using Ruby on Rails.

Before their foray into the tech industry, Simão worked as an Analyst Developer and Web Applications Developer at UNEP-WCMC, where they managed projects and contributed to the development of various applications in the field of conservation monitoring.

Simão Belchior began their education in 2001 at Escola Secundária Filipa de Vilhena, where they completed their 12º grade diploma in Science in 2002. In 2002, they enrolled at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, pursuing a Master's degree in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering. However, they did not complete this degree as they switched their field of study. From 2004 to 2009, Simão attended the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Informatics and Computing Engineering. In 2008, they briefly studied Software Engineering at VIA University College.
