Freelance Illustrator/ Concept Designer at Playful Studios

Robert Atkins has been working in the art industry since 2004. Robert began their career as an Artist at Tsunami Studios, then moved on to become a Freelance Illustrator/ Concept Designer at Playful Studios in 2014. In 2009, they also began working as a Freelance Illustrator for Marvel Entertainment. In 2010, they became an Instructor for Comics Experience, developing curriculum and teaching art courses online. From 2005 to 2008, Atkins worked as a Comic Artist and Freelance Illustrator for Robert Atkins Art, illustrating 70 consecutive GI JOE related covers from 2008-2012 and 130+ GI JOE related comic covers in total. In 2011, they worked as a Freelance Illustrator for Hasbro. In 2021, they began working as a Freelance Illustrator for Renegade Game Studios LLC, and they are currently working as a Professor of Sequential Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design, while still working freelance on short stories or extended deadline projects for comics, OR single illustrations, covers and commissions.

Robert Atkins attained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004, and a Bachelor's Degree in Art/Art Studies, General from Illinois State University in 2002.
