Vacant has been in the Canadian hospitality industry for over fifteen years. They began their career as an assistant manager at Cafe Coffee Day, before moving on to Domino's Pizza where they became an associate manager. In 2012, they joined Marriott Hotels and then Choice Hotels International, where they eventually became head of HR - Canada. Plaza Premium Group is their current employer.

Vacant attended A E S sr. sec school, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Administration/Management.

They are on a team with Ng Lee Sia - Head of HR, Rachel Ho - Director, Global Learning & Development, and Reena Uthappa - Director of Talent and Culture. and Michael Fan - Manager, Human Resources reports to Vacant. Their manager is Andrew Quay, Head of Talent & Culture.
