Gabriel Meneses

Gabriel Meneses has extensive experience in the field of data engineering and data science. Gabriel currently works as a Data Engineer at Plex, Inc., where they manage a high-availability Node.js ingestion server and develops efficient data pipelines using Java, Apache Beam, and Dataflow.

Prior to their current role, Gabriel worked at DataSprints as a Tech Lead Data Engineer. In this position, they designed and implemented AWS infrastructure using Terraform, monitored clusters for optimal performance, and developed Gitlab CI configurations and Airflow dags to improve workflow efficiency. Gabriel also engineered real-time data pipelines on AWS, integrating with SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases using Apache Kafka and Debezium, and implemented a low-cost data processing architecture using pySpark, Docker, and Athena.

Before joining DataSprints, Gabriel served as the Lead Data Scientist at Saraiva Educação. In this role, they spearheaded the Data Science team, proposed new projects, and defined the roadmap. Gabriel used Python, Apache Beam, Cloud Dataflow, and BigQuery on the Google Cloud platform to develop robust data pipelines. Gabriel also worked as a Data Scientist at Saraiva Educação, where they defined and implemented KPIs, created complex SQL queries on MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, and developed dashboards on Metabase to provide real-time updates and insights into product performance.

Additionally, Gabriel has experience as a Data Scientist at AppProva, where they created SQL queries to retrieve Customer Success data, processed student data using Python and Pandas to generate diagnostic reports, and developed visualizations and reports using Tableau.

In their earlier career, Gabriel worked as an Informatics Tutor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, where they managed the computer lab, conducted maintenance (both software and hardware), and assisted university students in using computational tools.

Gabriel Meneses pursued their education from various institutions. Gabriel obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, where they studied from 2013 to 2018. Additionally, they attended UC Irvine from 2015 to 2016, focusing on Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Prior to that, they studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Universidade Federal de Viçosa from 2011 to 2013. During their high school years from 2004 to 2010, Gabriel attended Colégio Losango de Formiga.

In terms of additional certifications, Gabriel has acquired various qualifications. Gabriel obtained an Astronomer Certification for Apache Airflow Fundamentals from Astronomer in June 2021. Gabriel also completed certifications in DevOps from Alura Cursos Online in September 2020 and Raspberry Pi from the same institution in August 2020. Gabriel acquired a Python Web certification from Alura Cursos Online in November 2018. Additionally, they hold edX Honor Code Certificates for Electronic Interfaces, Embedded Systems - Shape the World, and Introduction to Linux, which were obtained in May 2015 and December 2014, respectively. Gabriel has further achieved certifications like AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in October 2020 and Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate from Microsoft in April 2021.
