Duc Tran

Senior Scientist at Plexium

Duc Tran has worked in a variety of roles across a number of different institutions. In 2008, they began their PhD studies at Duke University, where they developed two large scale protein stability profiling techniques. In 2013, they moved to The Scripps Research Institute - Florida campus, where they worked as a Research Associate on a project to engineer trypsin specificity using directed evolution. In 2016, they became a Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City International University, Department of Applied Chemistry, where they were responsible for teaching and leading independent research. In 2019, they began a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, where they investigated the role of proinsulin folding and misfolding in pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes. Finally, in 2020, they joined Encodia, Inc. as a Scientist II and Senior Scientist, before moving to Plexium in 2022, where they currently work as a Senior Scientist.

Duc Tran attended Duke University from 2008 to 2013, where they earned a PhD in Biochemistry. Prior to that, they attended Hanoi University of Natural Science - Vietnam National University from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology.
