Guy Oshiro has worked in various roles in the informatics and life sciences fields since 1999. Guy began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation. From 2001 to 2008, they worked at Kalypsys as a Principal Scientist, Group Leader in the Biology Department, Senior Scientist, Group Leader in the Assay Development Department, and Scientist, Group Leader in the Biotechnology Department. During this period, they initiated and led multiple therapeutic discovery projects, drove a metabolic disease target from concept to phase Ib clinical trials, and drove a ophthalmological target from concept to the selection of development compounds. In 2008, they joined John McNeil & Co., Inc. as a Principal Scientific Applications Architect and Scientific Application Developer. During this period, they customized a legacy java web application, developed an algorithm in R to score the imaging results of a diagnostic antibody test, and architected their Assay Capture and Analysis System (ACAS). From 2017 to 2020, they were a Lab Automation R&D Business Technology at Pfizer. From 2020 to 2023, they were a Product Manager: Life Sciences Research Informatics at Dassault Systèmes. Currently, they are the Head of Informatics at Plexium.
Guy Oshiro obtained their BA from Whitman College in 1992, majoring in Mathematics-Physics and minoring in Biology and Chemistry. Guy then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, which they completed in 1999. Guy also recently obtained a Pragmatic Certified Product Manager certification from the Pragmatic Institute in 2021.
