Erik Hetzner is a Staff Software Engineer at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) since April 2014, specializing in feature development, support, and maintenance across a diverse software suite. Erik has served as a Senior Software Engineer, co-technical lead for the flagship scientific peer review system (Aperta), and has increased technical leadership within a large team. Prior to PLOS, Erik was the Web Archiving Service Tech Lead at the California Digital Library, overseeing the technical design and maintenance of a system to preserve websites, and worked as a researcher for the Emma Goldman Papers Project. Erik holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley.
