Gabriel Charles Tyler, Senior Communications Associate, leads strategic communications for the National Equity Atlas and the Bay Area Equity Atlas. In this role, he partners with teams at PolicyLink and the USC Equity Research Institute in promoting action-oriented research to advance racial and economic equity. His recipe for crafting narratives and executing campaigns that resonate with a broad range of audiences combines classic marketing techniques with innovative brand strategies. Most recently, Gabriel was a senior communications associate at Burness, a global communications firm committed to supporting nonprofits. Prior to that, he served as the assistant director of communications at the Center for Community Investment and as a marketing associate at Metropolitan Planning Council. He also previously worked as an assistant editor at The New York Times Upfront, a high school newsmagazine co-published by Scholastic and The New York Times. Gabriel holds an MS in journalism from Columbia University and a BA in communications from DePaul University. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, but he remains deeply committed to his hometown, Chicago. His preferred pronouns are he/him/his.
