Line Hassall Thomsen began their work experience in 2001 as a Journalist with the Baghdad Bulletin. In 2002, they worked as a Freelance Writer for Politiken, where they broke the story of McDonald's economic downfall in Danish print media. From 2002 to 2005, Line worked as a Journalist and Columnist for Rejsebladet Vagabond, reporting and writing features on culture and traveling. Line then joined The Independent in 2002 as a Journalist, where they covered various desks including Home News, Arts, Foreign, and The Independent on Sunday. Line's work at The Independent included a feature on the Muslim community in the UK. In 2004, they started working as a Production Journalist for ITV News and ITV News Channel, where they were responsible for planning, scripting, and developing new ideas for the show "Live with Alastair Stewart." Line also received an RTS award for coverage of the Beslan school siege. Line then joined Channel 4 News in 2006 as a Journalist and Producer, handling scriptwriting, cutting, and editing news footage. In 2007, they became a PhD Fellow at Aarhus University, conducting research on news processes based on anthropological fieldwork in newsrooms of national news broadcasters in Denmark and the UK. Alongside their research, Line also worked as a Lecturer, teaching various courses on journalism, communications, and culture. Since 2013, they have also worked as a Freelance Journalist for various national and international media outlets, such as Media Ark, Metroxpress, Politiken, thinkconversations.com, Newsmodo, and CULtivate magazine.

Line Hassall Thomsen pursued their education at Goldsmiths, University of London from 2000 to 2001. During this time, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Media Communication. Following their undergraduate studies, Line furthered their education at City, University of London from 2001 to 2002, where they obtained a Master's degree in International Journalism.
