Steven Storbakken has a diverse work experience in the field of emergency preparedness and disaster management. Steven started their career in 1990 as the Director of Safety & Security at Glendale Memorial Hospital, where they implemented various programs that reduced injuries and received recognition for low injury rates. In 2003, they joined Providence Health & Services as the Service Area Safety & Emergency Preparedness professional, where they led innovative programs and won awards for their contributions.

Steven's experience also includes working with organizations such as the American Red Cross, FEMA, Joint Commission, and Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in various roles related to disaster services and emergency management. Their expertise and contributions have been widely recognized, and they continue to contribute to the field as an Adjunct Professor at the University of La Verne.
