Emily Walek

Emily Walek has extensive experience in the field of architecture and design. Emily worked as a CAD Design Manager at Poppin, where they led a team in creating floorplans and renderings for commercial clients. Additionally, they coordinated communication between the CAD design team and the sales associates, trained new CAD designers, and educated the sales team on processes and capabilities.

Emily also has experience as a Small Business Owner at Phenomenalia, where they sold prints and custom commissions of their original map illustrations online and at various events and establishments. Emily specialized in designing maps based on client's life stories, particularly for anniversary and wedding gifts.

Furthermore, Emily worked as an Architectural Design Associate at Louise Braverman Architect, gaining experience in all phases of the construction process for residential renovations. This included creating construction documents, overseeing shop drawings, and collaborating with contractors, clients, and engineers to achieve the client's vision.

Prior to that, they worked as a Structures Teaching Assistant at Pratt Institute, assisting graduate level "Structures" Mathematics courses by holding office hours, helping students with math questions, and grading assignments. Emily also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, and they were involved in a research project within the same institute.

Emily has also interned at Behnisch Architekten in Germany, where they worked on a high school design project, creating competition boards and developmental models. Emily also had an internship at Philipp Mohr Design Studio, where they contributed to drafting architectural plans and participated in client meetings and site visits.

During their college summers, Emily worked as a House Painter at Concord Academy, where they performed painting, general maintenance, and cleaning tasks. Emily also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Colgate University, where they created a computer model of the earliest campus survey.

Lastly, Emily had their first architectural office experience as an intern at Cram and Ferguson Architects, where they worked on AutoCad plans, elevations, and built a physical model for a Gothic monastery and cathedral.

Emily Walek completed their education in a chronological manner. Emily attended Colgate University from 2009 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art and Art History. In 2012, they participated in the Pre-Architecture Program at Syracuse University. From 2013 to 2016, Emily attended Pratt Institute, where they obtained a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree, specializing in Architecture.

Additionally, Emily Walek has obtained several certifications related to photography. In March 2020, they completed the "Introduction to Photography" course, as well as the "Photography Foundations: Exposure (part 1)" course. In April 2020, they completed the "Photography Foundations: Exposure (part 2)" course and the "SketchUp: Rendering with V-Ray 3" course. All of these certifications were obtained through LinkedIn.
