Nicholas Reynolds

Senior Principal, London at Populous, Inc.

While he may be a Director of Populous’ London Office, Nicholas is first and foremost an architect. His passion for design means that he still remains actively involved in the creative process across all the projects he leads.

His 20-year career began with the design of the main stadium for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, with a focus on the adaptability of the stadium between the Games and its post-Olympic use. Since returning to England, Nicholas has worked on a diverse portfolio of projects. He was Design Principal for the O2 Arena, overseeing a revolutionary scheme that led to the construction of a 20,000 capacity arena within London’s Millennium Dome. He also led the team responsible for Parc Olympique Lyonnais, the new home of French football club Olympique Lyonnais and was Project Principal for the transformation of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. The latter has seen the conversion of this iconic building from its Olympic Games use to its long-term multi-functional legacy as the home of both West Ham United Football Club and British Athletics.

Nicholas is a regular speaker at conferences around the world on the architecture of sport and entertainment buildings, their social impact, and the role that branding and sponsorship plays in defining their design.
