Ed Madura has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Ed started their career in the US Coast Guard in 1976, where they served as an LCDR until 2006. Following that, they worked as a Program Manager at Snohomish County Emergency Management from 2006 to 2008, where they managed emergency preparedness and mitigation programs. In 1996, they began their involvement with the USCG Auxiliary, holding various positions such as Vice Division 1 Commander and Vessel Examiner. During the same year, they also joined the Civil Air Patrol, where they served as a Major and fulfilled roles in air search and rescue, squadron emergency services, and squadron/flight command. Lastly, they worked at the Port of Everett as Security Director starting in 2008. Throughout their career, Ed Madura has accumulated significant expertise in emergency management and maritime operations.
Ed Madura obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Phoenix in 2001. Prior to that, they attended the University of Alaska Southeast from 1995 to 1996. In 1972, they completed their education in Electronics and Metal Shop from Proctor Hug. In addition, they hold several certifications including being an NRA Certified Instructor for Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Home Firearms Safety, and Range Safety Officer obtained in 2012, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification from OSHA obtained in 1994, and EMT certification obtained from DOT, WA, RI, AK, MN in 1979.
