Rachel Thieme

Rachel Thieme is an experienced economic development professional currently serving as the Economic Development Business Manager at the Port of Portland since January 2024. Prior to this role, Rachel worked as the Development Project Manager for Economic Development at the City of Beaverton from March 2017 to January 2024 and served as Executive Director at the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District from November 2012 to February 2017. Additional experience includes a role as Project Manager at INIT, Innovations in Transportation, Inc. from June 2010 to November 2012, a Graduate Summer Intern at the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services/Division of Real Estate Services in 2008, and a Graduate Fellow at the Pratt Center for Community Development in 2007. Rachel also managed programs at the San Francisco Food Bank from July 2002 to December 2006. Academic credentials include a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning with distinction from Pratt Institute and a BA in American Studies from Mills College, complemented by participation in the Neighborhood Leadership Program at Coro New York Leadership Center.
