Jason Giffen is the Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer at the Port of San Diego, a position held since April 2013, leading efforts in sustainability and innovation. With over 25 years of public sector experience, Giffen has previously served in various leadership roles at the Port, including Vice President of Planning & Environment and Assistant Vice President of Planning & Green Port, engaging in high-profile projects and environmental initiatives. Prior experience includes directing the Planning & Building Department for the County of San Luis Obispo and working in multiple roles within the County of San Diego's Department of Planning & Land Use. Giffen holds a Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts from Mercyhurst University, complemented by executive education in Sustainability Leadership from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
