Esther Holleman has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Esther currently works at Portbase as a Business Development Manager, a position they have held since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Data Scientist at Portbase from October 2020 to October 2021.
From 2012 to 2020, Esther worked at Radboud University Nijmegen as a PhD Candidate at the Donders Centre for Neuroscience. During this time, they designed and implemented an automated maze for animal behavioral training, conducted electrophysiological experiments with closed-loop optogenetic stimulation, and performed data analysis in Python.
In 2011, Esther interned at Buzaki Lab, NYU Langone Medical Center, where they implemented the Gaussian Process Factor Analysis technique in Matlab to analyze electrophysiological data and created the lab website.
Esther also interned at the Applied Analysis & Mathematical Physics Group, University of Twente in 2011. Here, they modeled a lesion in a cortical column using C++ and investigated the conditions under which the lesion could become the focus of epileptic activity, as well as examined patterns in the spread of epileptic activity.
In 2010, Esther interned at the Helmholtz Institute, Utrecht University, where they performed single-trial analysis of EEG data to study the role of bottom-up neural processes in the perceptual switch phenomenon. Esther also compared analysis results to a population model to explore possible underlying neural dynamics.
Lastly, in 2005, Esther worked as a Psychology Tutor at William Woods University.
Esther's work experience showcases their expertise in behavioral training, electrophysiological experiments, data analysis, Matlab programming, C++ programming, and EEG analysis.
Esther Holleman has a diverse education history. Esther'sformal education began at William Woods University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Science from 2003 to 2006. After that, they attended HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht) in 2006 and 2007, where they obtained a propedeuse degree in Interaction Design.
Following their time at HKU, Esther pursued a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Artificial Intelligence at Utrecht University from 2007 to 2010. Esther continued their education at the same university, specializing in Neuroscience & Cognition with a focus on Biophysics and Computational Neuroscience from 2010 to 2012. Esther successfully completed their studies at Utrecht University and obtained a Master of Science degree.
In addition to their formal education, Esther also received several certifications to enhance their skills. Esther completed the Business Analyst Nanodegree (now called Predictive Analytics) from Udacity in April 2019. Esther also completed courses in R Programming and The Data Scientist's Toolbox from Coursera in July 2014 and May 2014, respectively.
