Michael Ireland is the current President and CEO of the Portland Cement Association. Prior to this, they served as the Associate Executive Director at ASME from December 2005 to December 2016. In this role, they were responsible for a staff of over 80 people and a combined annual budget of over $30 million. Michael also worked with several volunteer Boards to craft a myriad of products and services that serve the eclectic needs of a wide swath of customers.
From January 2005 to July 2014, Ireland served as ASME's Managing Director. In this role, they led a team of several thousand engaged volunteers and a motivated staff of 45 to meet the technology transfer and networking needs of 130,000 members. Michael also oversaw the society's 32 technical divisions, 2 Institutes, 800 global sections/chapters and additional virtual and affinity groups. Additionally, they managed ASME's product research and development, as well as directed all enterprise meeting planning services. These activities accounted for over $12 million in revenue.
Ireland has been key to grow membership at a pace exceeding five percent per year. This success is a result of crafting a realistic mission and vision to guide us and then by focusing on the salient WIIFM (What’s In It for Me) approach to developing products and services for specific market segments.
Michael Ireland has a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Education from Brigham Young University.
