Eric Barnhart

Eric Barnhart serves as the Chief Security Officer at Portland General Electric since March 2022. Prior to this role, Eric held the position of Executive Director, Global Investigations at Caterpillar Inc. from 2019 to March 2022, where responsibilities included leading a team of investigators and managing significant budgets for risk mitigation projects. Eric’s extensive career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation spanned from 1996 to 2018, with notable roles such as Special Agent in Charge, overseeing a large team and substantial budgets, and Special Assistant to the FBI Director, where Eric facilitated a major leadership transition. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
