Sydney Hirth

Sydney Hirth is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and leadership roles across various educational settings. Currently serving as an English Teacher at Portland Public Schools since August 2019, Sydney has developed and implemented personalized English curricula, including adaptations for students with IEPs and ELL. Previous roles include Creative Writing Teacher, Dean of Students, and Project Manager at SMASH, where Sydney led workplace readiness programs and facilitated college preparation initiatives. In prior positions at Oakland Unified School District and Contra Costa County Office of Education, Sydney taught English and developed cross-curricular materials while promoting culturally responsive education. Sydney holds a BA in Sociology from Oregon State University and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Monterey Bay.
