Pim Verkerk

Pim Verkerk has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. Pim started their career at Kerring as a Software Engineer, where they worked on in-house projects and served external clients until 2011. Pim then joined Rabobank ICT as a Software Engineer and later took on the roles of Lead Developer and Scrum Master, making significant contributions to projects that were behind schedule. In 2011, Verkerk also began working as a Java/Scala Consultant at Codestar powered by Ordina, where they helped establish a new Business Unit focused on technical innovation and the Scala language. Pim worked on high-profile projects for clients such as Rabobank. Verkerk continued their Scala development work at Rabobank ICT in 2015, where they developed a domain-specific language (DSL) to make mortgage calculations more readable and understandable for other developers. That same year, they also worked as a Scala Developer at 42 Education, contributing to the development of a comprehensive learning platform for primary education that utilized machine learning. In 2015, Verkerk joined CSC Traffic Department as a Scala Developer via Ordina, working on an Akka-based section control system. Finally, in 2016, Verkerk joined the Port of Rotterdam as a Scala Developer/Architect, playing a key role in shaping the Digital Business Solutions department and contributing to the development of innovative digital solutions in the maritime space. In 2019, they joined PortXchange as the Director of Engineering, overseeing all technical operations of the company.

Pim Verkerk obtained a degree in Informatica from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which they attended from 2003 to 2008. Pim has also obtained the certification of Certified Scrummaster from Scrum Alliance in September 2012. Additionally, Pim has a certification in Principles of Reactive Programming, obtained from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
