James Barger

James Barger has extensive experience in sports journalism, currently serving as an Executive Consultant for the Sports Department at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since September 2022. Prior to this role, Barger held various editorial positions, including Managing Editor at DKPittsburghSports.com and Executive Sports Editor at The Press Democrat. Barger’s career spans several major publications, such as ESPN, where the title was Associate Director of Stats and Analysis, and earlier roles included Sports Editor at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Las Vegas Sun. Education was completed at Point Park University between 1972 and 1975. Since retiring in August 2019, Barger has maintained an active involvement in the field.
