Montana Low has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades in various roles and industries. Montana is currently the Founder and CEO of PostgresML, a company they established in 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and later as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Instacart from April 2019 to May 2021. Montana also served as the Head of Shopper Engineering at Instacart from July 2015 to November 2016.
Before joining Instacart, Montana was the Founder and CTO of Omniref, a community reference platform for programmers, from August 2013 to July 2015. Montana cofounded the company and focused on putting external knowledge into the code programmers use.
Montana has also founded another company, Tomo, where they held the position of Founder and CTO. At Tomo, from August 2011 to August 2013, they led a team in building turnkey travel guides with fully interactive maps that worked offline. Montana utilized machine learning algorithms and designed a responsive CMS in Ruby on Rails to manage writers and integrated multiple large data sources.
Earlier in their career, Montana worked as the Chief Scientist at RescueTime from September 2008 to August 2011. Montana designed and implemented core technology in Ruby to generate real-time reports across billions of data points. Montana also helped reduce infrastructure costs and improve performance by continuously adding new features.
Montana started their career as a Software Development Engineer at Jobster from October 2007 to September 2008. Prior to that, they developed an advanced point of sale and management system for restaurants at Osmosys, where they served as the Founder from September 2003 to June 2006.
Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Montana worked as a Web Developer at McBride Clinic from May 2002 to August 2003 and as a Systems Administrator at Ensol from June 2001 to April 2002. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated their expertise in software engineering, machine learning, database management, and system administration.
Montana Low had a brief education experience at Y Combinator in 2012, where they studied startups. Afterwards, Montana attended Portland State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. However, it is uncertain when they started or completed their studies at this university. Montana then enrolled at Texas A&M University for Electrical Engineering, but dropped out without completing the degree. Similarly, they dropped out from the University of Oklahoma, where they were studying Computer Engineering. No specific dates are available for Montana's enrollment and departure from these two universities.
