John Torres has a diverse work experience in the library industry. John started their career as a Clerk at the Ossining Public Library in November 2008 and worked in that role until August 2012. From September 2012 to May 2014, they served as a Library Assistant at the same library. In June 2014, they joined The Ossining Public Library as a Librarian and worked there until August 2018. Finally, in August 2018, they became the Head of Youth Services at the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, where they currently work.

John Torres has an extensive education history. John obtained an Advanced Certificate in Public Library Administration from Long Island University from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (MS) in Library and Information Science from Long Island University from 2007 to 2009. John also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English from Mercy College, which they received from 2004 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, John has obtained several certifications. In 2022, they completed courses in Preventing Discrimination & Harassment: NY Managers, Cultural Competency & Humility, Diversity, Inclusion, & Sensitivity, Unconscious Bias, and Microaggressions in the Workplace, all from Traliant. John also holds an Advanced Certificate in Public Library Administration from Long Island University.

John has additional certifications from Innovation Builders, including the EXCITE Collaborative Innovator Badge and the EXCITE Innovation Designer Specialist Certification. However, the specific dates of when these certifications were obtained are not provided.
