Dr. Fred Lee’s research in unit commitment and economic dispatch (UC/ED) revolutionized generation asset optimization techniques and led to the founding of PCI in 1992. Their methods allowed utility operators to incorporate fuel constraints, emissions limitations, and hydroelectric complications into the already-complex UC/ED problem.
