Alex Kaufman, PE CEM has a diverse work experience in the fields of business development, sustainability consulting, podcasting, energy engineering, and mechanical engineering.

In 2022, Alex joined PowerFlex as a Business Development Manager. Prior to this, from 2020 to 2022, Alex worked as a Consultant at Solutions in Sustainability, where they helped businesses inventory their carbon emissions, set reduction targets, and track progress. Their role included providing services such as baselining, benchmarking, ESG reporting, energy roadmapping, and stakeholder engagement.

From 2014 to 2020, Alex held various roles at the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE). As a Business Development Specialist, they managed business development activities for the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP) and negotiated partnership co-funding commitments. They also served as an Energy Engineer, leading energy audits, providing technical support, and educating stakeholders on renewable energy programs.

During their time at CSE, Alex also founded and chaired the staff engagement working group, organizing events to improve interaction within the organization.

Before CSE, Alex worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Hazen and Sawyer, specializing in industrial HVAC and plumbing design. They have experience in designing systems for harsh environments and conducting energy modeling analysis.

Prior to that, Alex worked as an HVAC Application Engineer at Kinetics Noise Control and as an Engineering Intern at Kroger - Springdale Ice Cream and Beverage.

Alex Kaufman is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

Alex Kaufman, PE CEM, obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Miami University. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications and completed courses such as "Corporate Sustainability: Understanding and Seizing the Strategic Opportunity" from Università Bocconi in January 2021, "Course Completion: Introduction to Corporate Sustainability, Social Innovation and Ethics" from Imperial College Business School in December 2020, and "Course Completion: Successful Negotiation - Essential Strategies and Skills" from the University of Michigan in July 2020. Alex also holds certifications like the Wilderness Basics Course Certificate from Sierra Club obtained in March 2020, Open Water Scuba Diver certification from PADI obtained in October 2018, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification from the Association of Energy Engineers obtained in September 2017, Professional Engineer certification from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying obtained in December 2015, and LEED Green Associate certification from the US Green Building Council obtained in February 2014.
