John Espinola

As Executive Vice President of Healthcare Services for Premera Blue Cross, John Espinola, is responsible for Premera’s healthcare strategy, corporate innovation and strategic investments. He leads Premera’s efforts to deliver healthcare value to customers.

Dr. Espinola leads both Premera’s collaboration with healthcare providers and other partners, and Premera’s innovation and strategic investments efforts.

In addition to his work at Premera, Dr Espinola has served in various leadership roles at other health plans including as an Executive Director at United Healthcare. He has also practiced geriatric medicine in the Seattle metro area in a variety of settings.

Dr. Espinola is board certified in geriatrics and internal medicine. He trained in internal medicine at Scripps Clinic in San Diego and in geriatrics at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He earned his MD and MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine, a MBA from the University of Washington, and BA from the College of the Holy Cross.
