Bhushan Mahadik

Director, Tissue Engineering at Prellis Biologics

Bhushan Mahadik is the current Director of Tissue Engineering at Prellis Biologics. Prior to this, they served as the Assistant Director of the NIH Center for Engineering Complex Tissues from September 2017 to December 2021. There, they were responsible for steering the research, administrative, logistical, budgetary, and dissemination operations of a $6 million National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Center for 3D printing and biofabrication of artificial tissues. Bhushan was also responsible for engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs) and developing over 10 strategic partnerships that leveraged the expertise of CECT in tissue engineering and biofabrication to address pressing biomedical needs.

Before their work at the NIH Center for Engineering Complex Tissues, Bhushan Mahadik worked as an Engagement Partner, Leader, Project Manager, and Consultant at OTCR Consulting from September 2011 to December 2013.

Bhushan Mahadik obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to that, they completed their BS in Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, they have a certification from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Management (CEM).

They are on a team with and Ishan Khan - Lead Tissue Engineer. Their manager is Erin Stephens, VP of Tissue Engineering & Antibody Discovery.
