Jan Carel Diehl

Jan Carel Diehl is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in design for inclusive sustainable healthcare and diagnostics in low-resource settings. Currently serving as Co Lead on the NWO ESCH-R Project at Delft University of Technology, Jan also holds leadership roles in various initiatives, including Academic Lead of the Convergence Program Healthy Start and Principal Investigator for the INSPiRED Project focused on improving diagnoses of poverty-related diseases in Nigeria and Gabon. Jan's expertise spans multiple positions at TU Delft since 1996, including Professor in Design for Inclusive Sustainable Healthcare and Programme Leader at Diagnostics for All, where innovative diagnostic devices are developed. Additionally, Jan contributes to the scientific community as a researcher in energy storage technologies, a member of the Delft Global Initiative Steering Committee, and various advisory roles in organizations aimed at tackling global health challenges. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
