VP, Data Science at Preqin

Dieter Galea has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Dieter has worked as a VP of Data Science at Preqin since November 2020. Prior to that, they were a Machine Learning Engineer at Captify from October 2018 to October 2020, where they focused on improving models for user conversion prediction in algorithmic trading for ads. Dieter has also worked at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, first as a Senior Health Innovation Facilitator in 2017 and then as a Health Innovation Facilitator in 2016. At both positions, they facilitated innovation events and guided teams through the design thinking process. Before that, they were a Research Assistant in Computational Medicine at Imperial College London, where they developed software for the analysis and preprocessing of mass spectrometric data. Additionally, they worked as a Web/Software Developer and Computer Technician at KVH Computers from 2008 to 2014, a Research Assistant at the University of Lodz in 2013, an Analyst Intern at the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Regulation Department in 2013, and a Freelance Developer specializing in Adobe Flash and HTML/CSS from 2006 to 2009.

Dieter Galea received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Malta in 2014. In 2015, they obtained a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Imperial College London. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computational Science at Imperial College London from 2016 to 2019. In addition, they studied Green Chemistry at Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin in 2013 and Green Genetics at Wageningen University & Research Centre in 2012.
