Carlos Pardo Hernández, PhD has a range of work experience in various scientific and research roles. Carlos currently holds the position Scientist I at Pretzel Therapeutics and also served as a Consultant for the same company. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in mitochondrial molecular genetics. Carlos was also a PhD fellow at the Marie Curie ITN REMIX program, where they conducted research on mitochondrial replication and transcription. Earlier in their career, they completed their Master's thesis at CIB-CSIC, focusing on the structural characterization of complexes involved in the regulation of bacterial RNA polymerase. Carlos also gained experience in membrane protein interactions and the holo-translocon machinery during their time at the University of Bristol. Additionally, they have completed research internships at Hospital Nacional de Paraplégicos, where they studied membrane neuraminidase Neu3 and carbohydrate-binding protein Galectin-4 role in axon growth, myelination, and regeneration, and at Hospital Nuestra Señora de Fátima as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant.

Carlos Pardo Hernández, PhD, has a strong educational background in biochemistry. Carlos obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Gothenburg, where they studied from 2017 to 2022. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science - MS in Biotechnology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2017. Carlos also holds a Bachelor of Science - BS in Biochemistry from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, earned from 2012 to 2016.

In addition to their formal education, Carlos has obtained several certifications. In 2022, they completed Svenska som andraspråk 3, a certification in Swedish as a second language, from Göteborgs Stad. In 2014, they achieved the Cambridge Advanced Exam in English (C1) from Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Carlos also holds a Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF B2), obtained from the Alliance Francaise - French Alliance in 2012.
