Thomas A. Keating

SVP - Head of Biology at Pretzel Therapeutics

Thomas A. Keating has extensive work experience in the field of biology and drug discovery. Thomas A. is currently serving as the SVP - Head of Biology at Pretzel Therapeutics, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. as the Senior Director of Drug Discovery from 2020 to 2023. From 2014 to 2019, they served as the Senior Director of Biochemistry at ImmunoGen, Inc., and earlier as the Director of Biochemistry from 2014 to 2016. Keating began their career as a Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Cancer Research Fund Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School from 1998 to 2001, focusing on the biochemistry of non-ribosomal peptide synthesis and the characterization of peptide synthetases. Throughout their career, they have contributed to various research projects and scientific publications on topics such as antibiotic drug discovery and bacterial iron-acquisition systems.

Thomas A. Keating pursued their education in a sequential manner. Thomas A. began their studies at Harvard University from 1989 to 1993, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Chemistry. Subsequently, they enrolled at UCLA, attending from 1993 until 1998. It was during this time that they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Organic Chemistry.
