David Van Patten has a diverse and extensive work experience. David began their career in the United States Coast Guard, where they served as an Officer and was responsible for coordinating search and rescue as well as law enforcement cases. After leaving the Coast Guard, David founded and led the development of Long Island Youth Guidance, Inc., a faith-based organization focused on mentoring at-risk youth. David then moved on to become the National Director of Prison Fellowship Ministries, leading the development of national prison programs throughout the United States. David also served as the President and CEO of Dare Mighty Things, Inc., where they played a key role in developing large-scale social ventures. David later joined Northeast Passage as an Advisory Board Member and Cross Roads House as a Board Member. In 2014, David joined Prison Fellowship International as the Chief Operations Officer, responsible for global partnership strategy and program development. David also served as a Board Member for the University of New Hampshire Foundation. Throughout their career, David has demonstrated a commitment to social impact and has made significant contributions to various organizations and causes.

David Van Patten completed their education in a chronological order. From 1972 to 1976, they attended the US Coast Guard Academy, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Physics. In 1989 and 1990, they enrolled at the Harvard Kennedy School, earning a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration. Lastly, from 2009 to 2011, they pursued an OPM (Owner/President Management) program at Harvard Business School, focusing on Business.
