Moriba Jah's work experience begins in 2017 when they become an Associate Professor at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2023, they become a Corresponding Fellow at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, representing Scotland's National Academy of Science and Letters. Also in 2023, they join the Scotland International Space Advisory Committee as a Member. In 2021, they co-found Privateer Space and serves as the Chief Scientist. Later in 2022, they become a MacArthur Fellow, receiving a fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation. In 2018, they become the Director of Computational Astronautical Sciences and Technologies at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. Moriba also takes on the role of Program Lead of Space Security, Safety, and Sustainability at The Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law. In 2021, they become a Research Affiliate at MIT Media Lab, where they focus on Space Sustainability and Space Environmentalism. Moriba also joins the National Academy of Sciences as a Committee Member on International Security and Arms Control: Space Security. Finally, in 2021, they become a Senior Advisory Council Member at The Aerospace Corporation's Center for Space Policy and Strategy.
Moriba Jah earned their Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder, completing their studies from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the same university, studying there from 1999 to 2001. Moriba'sundergraduate education was completed at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from 1995 to 1999.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Moriba Jah also obtained a certification as a Science and Technology Manager Level III from the Defense Acquisition University in September 2013.
