Sowmya has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, from Jyoti Nivas College, Bangalore, and a diploma in Human Resources from St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration, Bangalore. A sports enthusiast, Sowmya has represented the state of Karnataka in basketball and hockey.
