Bjoern Eskofier

Bjoern Eskofier is a distinguished academic and researcher, currently serving as the Head of the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg since February 2011, focusing on machine learning and data analysis in wearable and ubiquitous computing systems for sports and healthcare applications. Eskofier holds multiple leadership roles, including Founding Spokesperson for the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering, Co-Spokesperson for the Collaborative Research Centre "EmpkinS," and Research Group Leader at Helmholtz Munich. Additionally, Eskofier co-founded Portabiles GmbH and Portabiles HealthCare Technologies GmbH and serves as a Scientific Advisor for ProCarement GmbH. Involved in editorial roles, Eskofier is the Area Editor for Digital Health at the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology and is a Senior Member of IEEE. Eskofier has also held visiting professor positions at Stanford University and the MIT Media Lab and has a strong educational background with a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg.
