Sam Duffort

Sam Duffort, CPA, has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Starting in 2005, Duffort worked at Red Hat as a Team Lead in Finance, where they implemented internal Profit & Loss reporting and developed budgets and targets. In 2008, Duffort became a Financial Consultant at FP&A Consulting, providing expertise in financial planning and analysis to private equity-backed and high-growth companies.

In the same year, Duffort joined Duke University as the Director of Finance and Business Services, responsible for financial planning and analysis, project accounting, and capital planning. Sam played a key role in developing financial models to evaluate cost-effectiveness and achieved annual savings of over $8 million.

Duffort then took on the role of Chief Financial Officer at Greene Resources, a staffing and human resources consulting firm. During their tenure, they managed all accounting and financial matters, partnered with executives to implement the annual strategic plan, and calculated monthly sales commissions.

In 2015, Duffort became the Chief Financial Officer at Percona, an open-source SaaS company. Sam was responsible for accounting, financial, sales operations, legal, and compliance activities. Duffort developed long-term strategic business plans and implemented operational reporting and accounting policies.

Duffort also served as an Investor at Triangle Angel Partners from 2012 to 2019 and as a Council Member at GLG from 2018 to 2020, where they contributed their expertise to professional learning and engaged in short- and long-term collaborations with experts.

From 2018 to 2020, Duffort worked independently as a CFO and Start-up Advisor, assisting founders with various aspects of growing and developing early-stage technology start-ups. Sam provided guidance on product validation, fundraising, business plans, and SaaS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Most recently, Duffort held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Commio Voice & Text Messaging, where they delivered reliable voice and text messaging services. Sam played a crucial role in developing the customizable, cloud-based communications API platform and served as a vital member of the leadership team.

Duffort's current role is Vice President of Finance at ProcessMaker, which they started in 2022. As VP of Finance, they will bring their extensive financial expertise to this organization.

Sam Duffort, CPA holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Chicago, which they obtained from 1992 to 1996. Sam later pursued an MBA in Finance and Supply Chain Management at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School from 2003 to 2005. Additionally, Sam obtained their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners in June 2018.
